Others might look at it as a liability but we choose to treat Jangga, our Labrador, as the baby of our family. Funny thing is that my dad is very protective of her and will get mad with stray dogs attacking Jangga while they are strolling on the street.
Having said that, last month we had a problem because my family and I had an out of the country trip for 4 days and we don’t have a helper or a relative who can take care of Jangga. This is a main concern because it is like we are leaving our baby alone and helpless.
After so much thought, I decided to take her to Pooch Park Doggie Day Care. The place is okay but it is not fancy. I believe it is wise that they used the words “Doggie Day Care” and not “Dog Hotel” to manage customer expectations.
I called them first to have a feel of their employees and to check their rates. I felt comfortable speaking with them because they were polite and kind. I also appreciate that they gave us a lower rate and free grooming service since Jangga will stay there for 6 days and 5 nights.
On the day we brought Jangga to Pooch Park, I like that they prepared her cage and the caretakers were ready to take our instructions regarding her meal portions and schedule. They also have a registration form so that I can provide sufficient information in case of emergency or if she has a routine that should be followed. They also provided a contract with clear details of the services that we are availing.
I appreciate that the dog caretakers are nice and they took time to be acquainted with our dog; they even took her to an open area to walk, poop and exercise. Best part is they don’t mind us calling at least twice a day to check on Jangga.
Overall, I will avail of their services again should we need a place to leave Jangga while we are out of the country.
Total cost of Jangga’s stay at Pooch Park Doggie Day Care is Php 2,100 pesos for 6 days (Php 350/day). Shorter stays (less than 5 days) have a different rate.

Posted by may | July 7, 2013, 12:38 PMHello May. When I left Jangga at Pooch Park I was informed that she will be staying in the dog house most of the time but they will take her out for a walk and to poop 2 – 3 times per day. If in case you’re going to leave your pet with them, it is very important that you provide clear instructions to the caretaker — eating habits, time of meals and level of activity. Hope this helps.
