During a quick errand run at Santolan Plaza in Quezon City, we spotted something new: Jabroni’s New York Pizza just opened its second branch in the Philippines. (Their first one is at Power Plant Mall, Rockwell.)
Being a family that loves discovering new restaurants and cafes, we decided to give it a try.

What Makes Jabroni’s Pizza “New York-Style”?
If you’re wondering, what exactly is a New York-style pizza? According to every pizza guide (and Google), it’s known for:
- Large, thin, foldable slices
- Chewy yet crispy crust with a signature charred underside
- Simple toppings like mozzarella and tomato sauce
- Often cooked in a gas oven, leaving a slightly greasy finish that’s part of the charm
At Jabroni’s, you can choose from two types of pizza:
đź”´ Round Pizza (New York Style)
Their round pizza is the classic New York option. For the whole experience, opt for the 18-inch size to enjoy those oversized, foldable slices.
🟦 Square Pizza (Sicilian Style)
Prefer something thicker? Jabroni’s also serves square pizza with a thicker crust and a crisp bottom. This is great for those who like a more substantial bite.
What We Ordered
For this visit, we tried two flavors from their round New York-style pizza menu:
🍕 The Roni (Red Sauce Pizza): A classic combination of mozzarella and pepperoni on tomato sauce.

🍕 The Amboy (White Sauce Pizza): A creamy white sauce pizza with vodka, mozzarella, pancetta, and sausage. This one ended up being the adults’ favorite.

We also ordered half a dozen creamy buffalo wings, opting for the less spicy version. For the dip, we chose the blue cheese/gorgonzola mix.

Pricing Tip: Should You Mix Flavors?
We considered ordering two flavors in one pizza, but here’s something to keep in mind: Jabroni’s charges based on the more expensive flavor when you split a pie.
If you’re watching your budget, it might be smarter to:
- Order two pizza flavors at similar price points.
- Or opt for two 12-inch pizzas, allowing you to try different flavors without paying extra for the priciest one.
This way, you get to enjoy variety without stretching your wallet too far.

About That Cheese Stretch
One thing worth mentioning is the lack of mozzarella cheese pull, or, in this case, its absence.
For a pizza with mozzarella, we expected that the cheese would stretch when you pick up a slice. Unfortunately, Jabroni’s pizza had very little cheese pull (almost none). If you’re after that gooey, stretchy mozzarella moment, you might be a little disappointed here.
Family Reactions: Kids vs Adults
In true family style, everyone had opinions:
- The kids mostly went for The Roni. The older kids finished their slices, but the younger kids said the crust was too chewy. They’re used to cracker-thin crusts, so they found Jabroni’s New York-style base a bit tough to bite through.
- The adults preferred The Amboy. The white sauce, paired with pancetta and sausage, gave it a richer flavor that we’d gladly order again if we were in the area.
Leftover Test: Still Good the Next Day?
We saved a few slices for breakfast and snacks the next day, and here’s the good news: Even after a night in the fridge and a quick toast in the oven, the pizza stayed soft and chewy. The crust didn’t get rubbery or soggy, which is a win for leftover lovers.
What About the Buffalo Wings?
The buffalo wings were okay, but honestly, not memorable. If wings are what you’re craving, there are better places to order from. We won’t be getting them again next time.
Final Verdict: Is Jabroni’s Pizza Worth It?
Jabroni’s New York Pizza is a good option if you’re near Santolan Plaza or Power Plant Mall and craving New York-style pizza in Metro Manila, or if you want to try something new.
Would we go out of our way for it? Probably not. But if we’re nearby, we’d order The Amboy again, especially for the adults in the family.
For families with younger kids, keep in mind that the chewier crust might not be their favorite if they’re used to crispy, thin-crust pizza, and the mozzarella won’t provide the dramatic cheese stretch.
